What Does a Full Car Service Include?

Engine and fluids

• Engine oil and filter change — fresh oil, new filter. The foundation of every service.
• Coolant level and condition — top up if low, check for contamination or degraded antifreeze protection.
• Brake fluid — checked and topped up. Old brake fluid absorbs moisture and reduces braking performance.
• Power steering fluid — where applicable.
• Windscreen washer fluid — topped up.

Filters

• Air filter — inspected, replaced if blocked. A clogged air filter reduces engine performance and fuel economy.
• Fuel filter — replaced if due (typically every 2 years on petrol, every service on diesel).
• Cabin filter (pollen filter) — inspected, replaced if dirty. Affects air quality inside the car.

Brakes

• Brake pad thickness measured front and rear.
• Brake disc condition inspected — checking for wear, scoring, and warping.
• Brake callipers checked for seizure or leaks.
• Handbrake operation and adjustment.

Tyres and wheels

• Tread depth measured at multiple points — legal minimum is 1.6mm but we flag anything under 3mm.
• Tyre condition checked for cracks, bulges, or uneven wear.
• Tyre pressures set to manufacturer specification.
• Wheel nut torque checked.

Lights, electrics, and safety

• All external lights tested — headlights, indicators, brake lights, reversing lights, number plate lights.
• Horn function confirmed.
• Wipers inspected and screenwash topped up.
• Battery condition tested.

Suspension and steering

• Shock absorbers checked for leaks and excessive movement.
• Steering linkages and joints inspected for play.
• CV boots checked for splits (a common MOT fail).
